I don’t know about you, but when I built my first course, I built first and thought, I will build it and they will come. Boy, was I delusional! I spent two full weeks pulling together my entire mastercourse and then launched it to …..drumroll for effect ….. Noone! I had not built up any buzz or interested people online around my magnificent topic.
And I was so defeated. It took another year and a half to get back up again and try another way. Well, I don’t want that same scenario for you. Don’t build, then sell. Start discussions with people now to first understand their problem better, then show up with value to alleviate the problem you know you can solve for them.
Don’t get caught building your entire offer and then starting to market it. You have to do a bit of both to start getting traction before you ever complete your offer.
Key Actions: Start doing Facebook Lives around your topic, run polls, quizzes, and post intriguing social media posts asking questions to find out what your audience needs around the pain point they are experiencing that you know you can solve for them with your offer. Then, you become the expert they want to listen to.
You need to know which marketing strategies to double-down on for the greatest return on your time investment. But these strategies are difficult to pinpoint until you know which business phase you're in. Are you just starting out and needing leads so people can find you? Or have you got plenty of leads to your social media accounts, website and MemberVault, but they just aren’t converting to your email list or initial offers? Or do you have a large email list, but you’re not able to convert them into paying clients or repeat sales?
Key Actions: Review the 12 Simple Strategies to Market Your MemberVault, focusing on those recommended for the exact current phase of your business right now. Once you have that phase under control, move up to strategies in the next phase and so on.
It’s easy to get over-zealous and try to be everywhere at once, however, sometimes it’s better to show up well on fewer platforms (particularly those where your ideal audience already hangs out online). When business owners try to tackle too many social media platforms at once, they often overlook the slight nuances of each one. Instead, focus on mastering one platform and getting into a consistent weekly publishing cycle on that platform before branching out to others. Start small, then expand gradually as you are gaining leads consistently.
Key Actions: Create a content schedule on ONE platform. Master it before moving onto a second platform. Scale back if you cannot maintain consistency.
If you're feeling overwhelmed by all the possible marketing strategies being touted on social channels and by "expert" entrepreneurs, don't allow yourself to get bogged down or overwhelmed.
Each strategy may have its place, but only when you're at the correct business phase to maximize each specific strategy.
Take the free MemberVault Virtual Visibility Quiz to laser focus your marketing efforts on those that will benefit your business most at your current phase!
