I would like to welcome you to Course Bistro! So glad you've found this website as a resource. You are in for an adventure!
Maybe you're wondering, who in the world is this crazy course lady?
Well, my name is Jayna Pettersen. I'm best described as quirky, a book worm and someone who can organize crazy, complex events from a deck of sticky notes. For my family, I have four teenagers/young adults. I've been married 26 years to my husband, Mike, whom I met when we were 16. You just never know when you'll meet the right one, right?
I am a professor at Southeastern University, where I teach Principled Leadership, Business Administration for non-profits, Student Success, Finding Your SHAPE, Multi-Staff Ministry, Organizational Leadership, Spiritual Disciplines and a capstone Leadership Seminar on job search and resume writing.
I am also a professor at Pierce College where I teach Business Technology and Criminal Justice Success and worked several years in the Workforce Department as the Criminal Justice/Social Service Mental Health Adviser. I helped students find their best fit career pathway, aligned their career goals with their academic preparation, planned out their coursework, then helped them search for jobs, prepare their resumes, and overcome barriers to success.
For my academic background, I have a Master of Arts in Global Leadership (fancy for leadership development) from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. I studied Life & Career Coaching at Western Seminary in Portland, OR and became an Associate Certified Coach through the International Coach Federation, Prior to that I completed my Bachelor's in Psychology at Simpson University in Redding, CA. I also earned my Teaching Certification from UW-Tacoma. But those 2nd graders were too rough on me, so I opted pursue teaching in higher education!
On a lighter note, I love listening to Lindsey Sterling, 2Cellos, Andy Grammer, Pentatonix, Home Free, Anthem Lights, and playing djembe and congas. No judgement on how eclectic my listening tastes are! If you're looking for a common denominator, they all have great, complex rhythms and harmonies. See, there’s a pattern!
I look forward to assisting each of you with your course creation journey. Online courses become digital assets that keep working for you even when you are not working! Even though there is a learning curve to setting everything up, it is an investment in yourself and your business that will more than pay for itself. The skills you learn are transferable to any business, allowing you to pivot as needed for profitability. AND, once set up, online courses will continue to generate income for your future lifestyle.
Expect to be challenged, participate in a great online community, and be supported throughout your course creation process. I also help with online business strategy for course creators. You will get out of your business what you put into it.
I'm excited to support you in creating a thriving online course business!
